Supply and installation of solid, engineered and parquet hardwood floors for offices, schools, hotels and commercial properties — fully in-house, no subcontractors.
When a commercial space needs a new wood floor, the quality of the installation determines everything that follows. A poorly fitted floor moves, creaks, gaps and fails, often within months of opening.
Getting it right means proper subfloor preparation, correctly acclimatised timber, and fitters who understand both the material and the environment they're working in.
From initial specification and subfloor assessment through to the final sand and finish, the entire job is handled by our own in-house team. We don't subcontract; every operative on your site is a Quicksand employee with the training and accountability that comes with it.

Traditional tongue-and-groove solid timber boards, typically 18–20mm thick. Best suited to ground-floor installations with a stable subfloor and controlled internal environment.
Extremely durable and can be sanded and refinished multiple times over decades.
A real timber wear layer bonded to a stable plywood core. Better suited than solid timber to installations over underfloor heating, on upper floors and in environments with greater humidity variation.
Available in a wide range of species, grades, and widths.
Individual hardwood blocks laid in geometric patterns. We install both traditional solid parquet and engineered herringbone formats, including double herringbone and basket weave.
A popular choice for hotel lobbies, period offices, and high-end retail environments.
A wood floor is only as good as what's beneath it. Our installation process begins well before the first board goes down.
We inspect and prepare the subfloor before anything else. This means checking moisture levels, addressing any unevenness, laying suitable underlay or adhesive systems, and ensuring the base is ready to accept the specified timber. Skipping or rushing this stage is the most common cause of fitting failures; we don't skip it.
Hardwood must acclimatise to the conditions of the space before installation. We factor this into project programming and never rush the process. It matters more in commercial buildings where heating and ventilation systems can create significant variations in ambient humidity.
Our fitters are experienced across all fixing methods: secret nailing, glue-down, and floating installations, depending on the floor type, subfloor, and manufacturer specification. Pattern floors such as herringbone require careful setting-out and geometric accuracy that only comes with practice.
Because we're a full-service flooring contractor, we sand and finish every floor we install ourselves. You don't need a separate contractor. The same team that fits the floor brings it to its final condition, using finishes specified to suit the environment and footfall levels.
Many flooring companies win the contract and then subcontract the installation to whoever is available. The result is variable quality, accountability gaps, and operatives who have no stake in your job going well.
We operate differently. Every fitter who works on your project is employed directly by Quicksand Flooring, trained to our standards and known to our management team.
When something needs resolving (before, during or after installation) you deal with one company, not a chain of subcontractors pointing at each other. For commercial clients managing large projects, tight programmes or multiple trades on site simultaneously, this matters.
Every operative is employed by Quicksand, not contracted
All fitters trained to Quicksand's high standards
One company to resolve any issue, no finger-pointing
Complete responsibility from start to finish
Our floor fitting team works across a wide range of commercial environments throughout London and the Southeast.
Corporate headquarters, co-working spaces, and commercial premises requiring minimal-disruption installation.
Schools, universities, and colleges. Installation scheduled around term times and holiday periods.
Hotels, restaurants, and bars requiring installations that work around trading hours.
High street shops and shopping centres with phased installation programmes to maintain trading.
Libraries, civic buildings, and government offices with strict procurement and compliance requirements.
NHS trusts and private healthcare facilities requiring out-of-hours installation work.
Commercial fitting projects have constraints that domestic jobs don't. We understand this and plan accordingly.
We routinely work evenings and weekends to avoid disruption to occupied buildings.
Large floor areas can be completed in phases to keep parts of a building operational.
